MartinWPr. Martin Witzenrath from Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany will present on Bacteriophage therapy for lung infections at the Phage Therapy World Congress 2016.

According to Pr. Witzenrath, pneumonia is associated with high morbidity and mortality worldwide. Nosocomial pneumonia is increasingly caused by multiresistant bacteria for which therapeutic options are dwindling. Moreover, the advantages of pathogen-specific therapies are increasingly recognized. This talk will focus on the preventive and therapeutic use of phages and endolysins for pneumonia as well as bacterial airway colonization based on preclinical and clinical data.
